| He
found the farm without too much trouble, and knocked on the front door.
Mother Teresa greeted him with open arms and a tear in the corner of her
eye.
Come
in, come in, I need you to help me with something. She led him to
the kitchen.
The
Stampedes tomorrow, and Im fixin some of my special
sauce for a bunch of poor old buggers
Bill pitched right in.
On Sunday morning they started out early for the Stampede. Mother Teresa had mounted the fertilizer broadcaster on the three-point hitch and filled it with wings and her special sauce. She set the power take-off on slow. The agitator kept the wings well coated in sauce. She attached a small heating unit borrowed from a chicken incubator to the bottom of the hopper to keep the contents warm. She filled the carry-all behind the seat with Royal Chinette plates that wouldnt fold in the middle under a heavy load, and rolls of paper towels. The
Stampede was as exciting as ever with new rides,
In
the course of the afternoon Mother Teresa had Bill deliver heaping plates
of her steaming wings and complimentary paper towel to the members of
the Variance Board. They were encouraged to eat m up. Junior Mennon
took a double portion every time. No-one recognized Bill, and the Variance
Board assumed the wings were their usual pay-off from one of the booths
on the mid-way. By the end of the day all the wings were gone, consumed
exclusively by the Variance Board. The
TV station from the Falls sent Teresa had noticed them while she scanned the seats for the familiar stranger she had seen earlier. And sure enough, he was there. The next morning Mother Teresa went down to the town hall for the hearing of the Complaints and Controversies Board.
