THE MUNICIPAL CORPORATION OF THE TOWNSHIP OF ARMOUR MINUTES MARCH 21, 2001A special meeting of the Council of the Township of Armour was held on Wednesday, March 21, 2001 at 6:35 p.m. Those in attendance were Reeve, Frank Gill, Councillors Rod Blakelock, Marty Corcoran, Joanne Cripps, and Gary McFarlane and Wendy Whitwell, Deputy Clerk Treasurer. This meeting was called to table correspondence from the law firm of Weir Foulds. The following resolutions were passed: - Moved by Joanne Cripps, Seconded by Gary McFarlane, that the Council of Armour move into Council as a whole to discuss legal matters Section 55 (5) (e) ( f ). (Carried) - Moved by Joanne Cripps, Seconded by Rod Blakelock, that the Council now move out of Council as a whole, time 7:45 p.m. (Carried) - Moved by Rod Blakelock, Seconded by Marty Corcoran, that the Council of the Township of Armour instruct litigation counsel, Graham Wilson & Green, to commence an application on its behalf pursuant to section 7 of the Municipal Conflict of Interest Act for the purpose of determining whether the members of Council of the Township of Armour can participate in directing the Township of Armour to respond to the application brought by Jerry Brandt, Donald Cameron, Lori Haggart, and Jill Kulchar and filed in the Superior Court of Justice as number 30/01. Recorded vote, for, unanimous. (Carried) - Moved by Joanne Cripps, Seconded by Gary McFarlane, Based on the success of Council's application to the Court pursuant to Section 7 of the Municipal Conflict of Interest Act, the Council of the Township of Armour instructs litigation counsel, Graham Wilson & Green to proceed with its representation of the Township as a proper party to the controverted election proceedings with consideration to the matters raised by Weir Foulds in their letter dated March 20, 2001. Recorded vote, for, unanimous. (Carried) - Moved by Joanne Cripps, Seconded by Gary McFarlane, that the Council of the Township of Armour do hereby adjourn this special meeting at 7:52 p.m. (Carried) |
